JMU Chamber Orchestra - 11/16/26

The JMU Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Kira Omelchenko, is conducted by graduate orchestral conducting students. The ensemble is comprised of string, wind, brass, and percussion musicians, and presents approximately two to four performances each year. Chamber Orchestra aims to provide members with exposure to literature from a broad range of composers and styles, including compositions from the Baroque, Classical, and early 19th and 20th centuries.

Marlon Foster ('82, '95) served in the United States Air Force, taught in Harrisonburg City Public Schools for 26 years, and taught percussion in the JMU School of Music. Marlon was awarded Teacher of the Year from Harrisonburg City Schools, and he was inducted into the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association's Hall of Fame.
