Dr. Yenisei Montes de Oca is an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at James Madison University. She was raised in Tijuana, México, and attended college in California; she was very fortunate to have lived constantly in between both countries while she received her M.A. in Peninsular and Latin American Literature and her Ph.D. in Peninsular Literature from the University of California, Riverside. Her current research interests include 20th and 21st Century Peninsular Literature; History and Culture; Interdisciplinary Approaches to Contemporary Spanish Literature and Postwar Literature in Spain, especially as it relates to Memory and Trauma Studies. She teaches Introduction to Hispanic Literature and Peninsular Literature courses and she is the faculty advisor for the JMU Spanish Club. Yenisei proudly represents MEXICO and CALIFORNIA!
