Dan Holt has been a Faculty Fellow since 2022. He is a Professor in the Department of Psychology with research interests in the experimental analysis of behavior. His research interests are guided by two distinct goals within the rubric of the experimental analysis of behavior. His first goal is to further our understanding of general laws of learning and my second goal is to understand factors that influence choice behavior (e.g., impulsive behavior). His current research is exploring factors that influence choice behavior. This line of research is largely motivated by the admittedly bias perspective that most of what we do is related to choice. If choice behavior is central to what we do, then a fuller understanding of the factors that contribute to choice behavior will provide meaningful insights into a large part of our behavior. Much of the current work in this area has evaluated different mathematical models and in doing so, has also explored the fundamental nature of the decision making process.
