K-12 Robotics

The Robotics Academy will afford teachers the opportunity to explore ways to practical applications and enhance their conceptual understanding of the mathematics.  The Academy will feature master teachers who will present activities and demonstrate classroom strategies to increase student understanding.  Sessions on the use of technology to engage students in their math lessons will also be offered.  Mathematics and Physics experts will offer sessions to increase the content knowledge of the participating teachers and give them an opportunity to hone their problem-solving skills.  Teachers will be encouraged to include more problem solving in their lessons and to increase the cognitive demand of the activities they provide their students in order to promote the NCTM process standards and encourage a practical understanding of mathematics.

Grant funding will pay for a limited number of registration, graduate credit and housing fees for Virginia educators.
