The production instance of Cascade will allow logins anywhere with Internet access. You'll have a secure and protected session similar to when you use online banking. Make sure you use the link https://jmu.cascadecms.com/login.act to access Cascade. If you wish to access the test server off campus (it-wwwdev.jmu.edu) you'll need to have a connection to the JMU network.

Please contact JMU Information Technology Help Desk. The Help Desk will route your issue to the appropriate party to help resolve the problem.

Cascade provides resources to remain compliant with accessibility standards. Maintaing and meeting these standards will heavily rely on compliance of individual web administrators and contributors. We strongly encourage users to take the time to fill in all fields in the content tab when creating content. It will help meet accessibility standards when filled in completely and correctly. For more information, see Best Practices: Accessibility Standards.

Cascade will work on most modern browsers. However, there are a several quirks for each browser. See Troubleshooting: Cascade Errors for more information on Browser configuration and quirks.

Internal links in Cascade will redirect automatically if the link location changes. External links will not and will have to be manually changed if locations change. This is one reason that you should not rename, delete, and move documents around unless absolutely necessary. If it is necessary, please contact digitalmarketing@jmu.edu to receive a list of links to be updated.

The content and the context of your pages will determine how often your site needs updating. The goal is to provide your audience with fresh and relevant content. Content tags make it possible for your content to show up in multiple places around Cascade. Keep in mind any outdated content on your site can cause other sites to appear outdated. If your department doesn't have resources to produce new content on a regular basis, consider subscribing to relevant feeds that will allow fresh content to be published on your page.

Yes. One of our favorite features of Cascade is the ability to have a development/testing environment for Cascade. The test server can be accessed through an on-campus internet connection or through a VPN connection off-campus. The URL for the Cascade development server is: it-wwwdev.jmu.edu.

To view your departmental site, you would use: it-wwwdev.jmu.edu/yoursitename.

This feature allows you to make changes to your site and view them on a "live-to-you" server/environment before publishing to your public, live site.
