Summary:  Athletic teams are permitted to provide meals, additional meals, nutritional supplements, and snacks in addition to a student-athlete's regular meal plan in accordance with NCAA bylaws when student-athletes are participating in required intercollegiate athletics activities. The following table provides guidelines, but is not all-inclusive. Athletic teams must operate within their allocated budget and cannot provide additional meals, nutritional supplements, or snacks beyond budget levels.

Meals

Additional Meal ($10 per diem, applies to student-athletes)


During academic year while classes are in session.

Meals can be provided based on University per diems for missed meals due to team activities.


Must be a meal provided for nutritional value


In conjunction with an away competition

Meals can be provided from the time of departure until return. Cash may be provided up to University per diems in lieu of team meals.


Provide meal or $10 cash on day of competition.


In conjunction with any home competition

Beginning with the evening before competition to the end of the competition and release by Coach


Provide meal or $10 cash at the time of release.

In–season student athletes on campus for practice or competition during vacation periods.

May provide R&B or cash allowance based on University per diems.

Must be a meal provided for nutritional value – not cash equivalent unless it is a day of competition (see above).

University has determined allowable cost for additional meal is $10 per student-athlete instead of the NCAA allowable $15.

Nutritional supplements such as energy bars, power bars, certain granola bars, ensure, boost, Gatorade, power aid, muscle milk as approved by Sports Medicine can be provided to student-athletes at any time.

Snacks may be provided to student-athletes at any time.

Occasional meals can be provided to the team or sub unit. Occasional meals are defined as an average of once per month (12 per year).
