Presenter Fees:

Presenter fees are as follows:

  • Graduate student presenter: $50*
  • Faculty/staff presenter: $100*

*Please note there is a $2.50 convenience fee attached to each credit card transaction.

Please note that the system will ask for a billing address during registration. It will not accept international addresses so international participants will need to pay using a check. Checks should be made payable to “James Madison University” with “Africana Conference” listed on the notes section. Please note that checks must be drawn off of a US bank and/or payable in US dollars to be accepted. Checks should be sent to the address below:

Presenters and attendees will be responsible for their own meals. Dining options and locations on James Madison University’s campus are available here.

Travel Information:

The Africana Studies Conference will primarily take place at James Madison University’s campus in Harrisonburg, VA, specifically Madison Union (Taylor Hall and Warren Hall). Additional events will be held at The 150 Franklin Street Gallery located at 150 Franklin Street, Harrisonburg.

Parking:

150 Franklin Street Gallery

There will be limited street parking available in front of the gallery and across the street. There will be ample parking available in the Summit Community Bank parking lot located at the corner of Franklin and Main.

JMU Campus

Parking is available in the Convo A lot located at 851 University Boulevard. 

A campus shuttle will be making continuous loops from the Convo A lot to Madison Union at the following times:

8:00 – 11:00 AM
4:00 – 7:00 PM
