Teel’s research focuses on production and use of biochar in small scale agriculture mostly for the improvement of soils.
Teel earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Seattle Pacific University, a master's degree in natural resource management at Cornell University and a doctorate in agroforestry, soils and international agriculture also at Cornell University.
