During its January meeting, the Women for Madison Executive Advisory Council got an inside look at JMU's College of Integrated Science and Engineering.

Dean Robert Kolvoord presented the vision for the college and discussed the CISE curriculum and opportunities for students and presented. Following the presentation, he led the council on a tour of five labs, where the Women for Madison interacted with professors and students, who described the work they are conducting. The professors and the labs are:

  • Joy Ferenbaugh in the integrated science and technology environment lab
  • Sharon Simmons in the computer science robotics lab
  • Jacquelyn Nagel in the engineering sophomore bike design lab
  • Olga Pierrakos in the engineering advanced thermal fluids lab
  • Stephanie Stockwell in the integrated science and technology bio manufacturing lab

Also during the meeting, the council started discussing the culture and identity they wanted to create for Women for Madison. The council later broke up into newly formed committees to identify committee responsibilities and select committee chairs: Development Committee, Mary Ann Alger; Education and Outreach Committee, Donna Fowlkes; and Symposium/Special Event Committee, Kathy Thomas.
