Ginny Wrobel recognized as Outstanding New Professional for Student Affairs

News

Ginny Wrobel has been awarded the Outstanding New Professional Award, which is awarded to an individual who has worked one to five years in the student affairs field and has contributed in various positive ways to student and/or professional culture on campus.

Since joining the Well Dukes team, Ginny has quickly become an invaluable member of the department, bringing fresh perspective, thoughtful leadership, and a deep commitment to student growth and success.

One of Ginny’s most impactful contributions has been the transformation of the Peer Education program. Through her intentional and student-centered approach, the program became an official Work-Based Learning Experience at JMU, with a framework that has since become a model for other departments across campus. She has also expanded professional development opportunities for peer educators through collaborations with campus partners, helping students strengthen career readiness, build confidence, and foster a stronger sense of belonging.

Beyond her innovation and leadership, Ginny creates an environment where students feel supported, heard and empowered to grow. Whether mentoring peer educators, strengthening assessment practices, helping lead campus-wide initiatives, or coordinating engaging wellness events, she consistently approaches her work with professionalism, compassion, and care.

What makes her accomplishments even more impressive is that she achieved all of this while completing her Master of Public Health degree this year.
