Dr. Hollie Hall named as new Dean of Students

Student Affairs at James Madison University is pleased to announce that Dr. Hollie Hall has been selected as the Dean of Students. Hollie earned her Doctorate in Executive Leadership from St. John Fisher College in 2018 with research focused on treatment strategies for college students struggling with anxiety. She graduated from Alfred University in 2004 with a master’s degree in Counseling Education and earned her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport in 2000 with a double major in Health Science and Psychology. 

Hollie has served college students in various positions in Student Affairs and has also been an adjunct professor for both undergraduate and graduate students. A mental health counselor by trade, she values the importance of building relationships that are genuine. Hollie identifies her leadership style as transformational; she is always striving to inspire positive change for everyone she meets and is driven to have a positive impact on any system or community of which she is a part. 

Dr. Tim Miller, Vice President for Student Affairs at JMU, says “I am incredibly excited about the experience and passion Dr. Hollie Hall is bringing to JMU. Her training as a therapist along with her administrative experience are the perfect combination to serve the JMU community”.  

Hollie shared that when she read the job description, “I felt that the position had been written specifically for me. The Dean of Students position allows me to work alongside amazing professionals who wake up every day with the intention of impacting the lives of students in a positive way. I am excited to do meaningful work here and am so appreciative of the warm and welcoming community I have joined. Go Dukes!” 

Hollie started at JMU on Tuesday, Feb. 15 and we are excited to have her here. Her email is hall4hm@jmu.edu and her office is located on the third floor of the Student Success Center.
