MAD4U Promotes JMU Spirit with Their Football Watch Parties

The JMU campus always feels a little too quiet on fall weekends when the football team has an away game. Home games bring spirit and excitement to the student body, and MAD4U believes that away games should be able to do the same. Every Saturday with an away game, MAD4U hosts the Football Watch Party in TDU, the perfect setting to relax and watch the game. While it may not be the same as going to the stadium, the watch party has the benefits of being in TDU, with heat and air conditioning, crystal clear speaker quality, and a big projected screen.

MAD4U makes the event feel special with free merchandise for students to pick up, cornhole set up for gameday fun, and even food provided by Aramark, like buttery popcorn. Watching the game in TDU means plenty of tables, chairs, and couches for you and all your friends, and the benefit of being around lots of other students.

“This is a good way to unify the student body into a more spirited group,” said Jack Sullivan, a Junior Psychology major and MAD4U employee. “It’s a really good way to show school spirit.”

Instead of watching the game at home, it can feel much more exciting to do so around lots of fellow JMU fans. “This provides a good community where we can all root for JMU together,” said Cassie Hill, a Senior Accounting major and Computer Information Systems minor. Cassie really enjoyed the watch party for the game against West Virginia and returned this past weekend to attend the event for a second time.

“It’s also a way that people can connect with the football team even when we’re not at the games,” added Ashlyn Johns, a Senior Spanish and Communication Studies double major and MAD4U employee.

MAD4U is a great resource for students to get more from their university than just classes.  There’s a watch party for every football away gameand the next one is one October 19thso look out for these and a wide range of other events for different interests on the MAD4U Instagram (@Mad4ujmu). See you there!
