The Breeze three-peats as Virginia's best non-daily of its size

Student journalists at The Breeze took home the top honor for non-daily newspapers in their circulation size category for the third consecutive year.

During its virtual awards ceremony on Sept. 17, the Virginia Press Association named The Breeze as the 2019 Grand Sweepstakes award winner for the third largest circulation category of non-daily newspapers. This also was the fifth time overall The Breeze has won that award. And it beat out five other newspapers, including community newspapers, for the honor.

The Breeze and its individual staff members won more than two dozen other awards, including 12 first-place, eight second-place and six third-place awards, which the Virginia Press Association announced in April, as The Breeze reported.
