Journalism Student's Prestigious Internship

James Faris has landed a prestigious summer gig.

Faris, a SMAD journalism concentrator and founder of the Madison Business Review (which appears regularly on The Breeze's website), is one of 17 students nationwide selected for the business reporting internship sponsored by the Dow Jones News Fund.

He'll be a paid reporter for Richmond BizSense, right in his hometown.

Interns get a $1,500 scholarship, an assigned mentor, pre-internship training and free memberships in journalism professional associations.

"I am blessed beyond measure to accept this internship," he said, "especially given the challenging circumstances many face amid the COVID-19 outbreak."
