UREC Marketing receives 2022 Creative Excellence Awards

UREC is proud to announce that the Marketing Team received two NIRSA Creative Excellence Awards for their Marketing efforts last school year, one in the category of Student Digital Presentation and one in the category of Integrated Marketing Campaign.

In the Student Digital Presentation category, the “You Belong at UREC” video placed first. This video, created by undergraduate student staff members, Alex Turner and Hannah Waring, highlighted the modifications made to UREC’s facility and procedures during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project lead, Alex Turner explained, “The goal of the video was to reassure participants that UREC was committed to keeping the community safe during a time when physical and mental health was especially important. The team embraced the challenge of communicating such an important message and we’re all really proud of the finished product.”

In the Integrated Marketing Campaign category, the “February Frenzy” Campaign placed second. The purpose of “February Frenzy” was to motivate as many participants as possible to take part in a wide variety of program areas and offerings available to them at UREC during the COVID-19 pandemic. Marketing’s efforts in promoting this program consisted of the creation of the February Frenzy mark, website creation, sponsorship secured for prizes, various print and digital displays, flyers, bulk emails, outreaching to over 100 student organizations through GroupMe, Instagram feed posts and stories, and in person tabling and outreach.

Marketing Assistant, Hannah Waring, said, “I loved being able to collaborate on the creation of a program that helped a lot of students discover all that UREC has to offer. It was amazing to see so many of my peers try out different programs and get up and move during a time when there was a lot of uncertainty on campus and in life. I’m grateful I was able to leave my mark on Madison!” UREC’s Marketing Team’s efforts resulted in over 280 students participating in the two week-long event.
