Senior religion major Kailey Garrett has been named one of two Outstanding Students in Religion by the religion faculty at James Madison University.  Garrett will graduate with her bachelor's degree this spring and plans to study for a master's degree in Gerontology at Virginia Commonwealth University.  She will also be working as a Life Enrichment Director at Retirement Unlimited.  When asked about her experience studying religion, Garrett commented that "The most important thing I have learned during my time at JMU as a Religion major is that it is so important to learn about other cultures and groups because it not only helps to build empathy, but it encourages us to see the world from a new perspective!"  She believes her background in religious studies will help her career in managing geriatic care "because someone's religious background typically impacts their expectations and values associated with elder care.  By taking courses on all different religions and cultures during my time at JMU, I feel better prepared for this aspect of my future career."
