2026-2027 FAFSA is available now

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2026–2027 academic year became available on Oct. 1^st.

James Madison University’s FAFSA priority filing date is March 1^st. To be considered an on-time filer, a student’s FAFSA must be processed by the U.S. Department of Education on or before this date. As a result, we suggest filing the FAFSA a few days before March 1^st to give the government time to receive and process it. While students may still submit a FAFSA after March 1^st, late submission may, in some cases, reduce eligibility for certain types of financial aid.

Please encourage the students you interact with to complete their FAFSA by the priority deadline to ensure full consideration for available aid. Students who need assistance are welcome to visit the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships for guidance and support.
