Notices

Researchers at James Madison University are conducting a study to understand how a single night of sleep restriction may influence the body’s response to a single meal.

We are seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • 18-35 years old OR 60 years of age or older
  • Participate in either less than 60 OR more than 150 minutes of physical activity per week

  • Are interested in learning more about their metabolic health and physical activity habits

What does the study involve?

  • Visit 1 (~30 minutes)
    • Complete questionnaires about health history, physical activity, and sleep habits and receive an accelerometer to track physical activity habits
  • Visits 2 and 3 (~4.5 hours)
    • Consume a chocolate pie followed
    • Undergo simple finger stick blood tests and provide saliva samples
  • Additional requirements
    • One night of sleep restriction (<4 hours of sleep) before visit 2 or 3
