CISR and the Dept. of Political Science presents speaker Shari Bryan Nov. 10
NoticesJMU’s Center for International Stabilization and Recovery and the Department of Political Science are honored to host Executive Director of Mines Advisory Group US, Shari Bryan, on November 10 from 5:15–6:15pm in Miller 1101. As former Executive Vice President of the National Democratic Institute, Country Director in Nigeria, and Director for Southern and Eastern Africa, Bryan has extensive leadership experience in the humanitarian sphere, working to address challenges for democracy, governance, and conflict prevention in partnership with the US Department of State, USAID, and European governments.
Mines Advisory Group (MAG), recipient of the 2025 Hilton Humanitarian Prize, is a global humanitarian and advocacy organization that works to reduce the risk of armed violence, provides risk education, and removes and destroys explosive hazards of war in affected communities around the world. Since 1989, MAG has helped over 20 million people in 70 countries rebuild their lives and livelihoods after war. In 1997, MAG shared the Nobel Peace Prize for its role in banning landmines.
