Hart School alum to speak about sports tourism

SUMMARY: Jason Aughey (‘03) will be visiting campus to present on sport tourism.


Jason Aughey (’03), ​​Senior Vice President of Sports Tourism for the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, will be presenting on campus in Hartman Hall Forum (Room 2021) on Tuesday, September 6, from 6:30 p.m.-7:45 p.m.

Aughey coordinates the commission’s direct sales and marketing strategies and leads the effort in attracting, as well as organizing events of all sizes on behalf of the community. He is currently in his 17th year with the commission, and has worked numerous roles acquiring skills in recruitment, development, management and implementation of events.

The Hart School SRM program will be hosting the event titled, “Sports Tourism Equals Big Business: An inside look at how Tampa Bay recruits and hosts some of the biggest sporting events in the country.” Aughey will be covering topics such as the economic and social impact of sports tourism, event recruiting, major event hosting and the future of sports tourism.

Students from all majors are encouraged to attend this presentation.
