Hart School Students Accessibility Workshop

Students Learn About Accessibility & Inclusivity for Compliance with the ADA

Hart School of Hospitality, Sport and Recreation Management

by Colleen Jetton

Group at Accessibility WorkshopHart School students from both Sport and Recreation Management and Hospitality Management learn about accessibility and inclusivity through an annual “Accessibility Workshop.” Through this workshop students maneuver through the Godwin Building and its surrounding environs and evaluate its compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as well as whether or not the facility is truly inclusive in design.

Students do this while using walkers, wheelchairs, as well as special eyeglasses and gloves that simulate visual and tactile disabilities.  It was a fun experience as well as a great opportunity for students to understand the seriousness of how buildings should be ADA compliant.
