Employee Wins Scholarship

Office of International Programs employee Amy Brooks has been named a fall 2014 recipient of the Elizabeth M. Finlayson Scholarship for Adult Degree Program students.

The Elizabeth M. Finlayson Scholarship is given in honor of Dr. Finlayson, who was pivotal in establishing the forerunner of today’s Adult Degree Program in 1977. She was the first director of the program and an ardent supporter of degree completion programs in general.

This scholarship, established in 1999, recognizes the academic achievement of an adult student completing his or her undergraduate education later in life.

Amy has been an employee of JMU since 2007 and she has served as the Fiscal Specialist for the Office of International Programs since June 2013.  Amy has been awarded a $1500 scholarship which she will use in her pursuit of a BIS degree in Organizational Communication and Training.
