Accreditation Updates

by Dr. Amy Thelk

As the fall season approaches, a subset of our programs is preparing for a virtual, online visit as part of our ongoing accreditation with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).   The programs under review comprise our Advanced Programs offerings: Educational Leadership, Literacy Education, School Counseling, and School Psychology.

The earlier stage of this process was the preparation of a report including plans of how each program intends to meet CAEP’s Advanced Program standards. Development of this report started in 2019, was temporarily thwarted by the COVI-19 pivot, and was heartily resumed in January 2021. The program coordinators (Dr. Monica-Smith-Woofter – Educational Leadership; Dr. Mark Lewis – Literacy Education; Dr. Tammy Gilligan – School Psychology; and Dr. Michele Kielty – School Counseling) prepared the report and plans along with CoE Administrators Dr. Amy Thelk and Dr. Dara Hall.

We look forward to this virtual visit in early November. All educator preparation programs at both the initial and advanced levels will be fully reviewed in the Fall of 2025.
