JMU Alum Named Lucy Simms Educator of the Year

SUMMARY: Kimberly Dove was named the Lucy Simms Educator of the Year for Rockingham County Public Schools


Kimberly Dove, currently in the College of Education's Teacher Leadership Graduate Certificate Program, was named the Lucy Simms Educator of the Year for Rockingham County Public Schools in May 2020. Kimberly teaches eighth grade Civics and Economics at Wilbur S. Pence Middle School in Dayton. She also serves as the Eighth Grade Team Leader and Yearbook Advisor.

Teachers from each school in Harrisoburg City Schools and Rockingham County Schools annually nominate one of their peers for this award. Ms. Dove was selected as the winner in her school and then as the overall winner for Rockingham County. This honor now makes Ms. Dove eligible for the regional and state selection as the Virginia Teacher of the Year.
