SUMMARY: JMU's Dr. Melanie Shoffner is now serving as editor for English Education, the flagship journal for English Language Arts Teacher Educators (ELATE)

The first issue of English Education under the editorship of Dr. Melanie Shoffner (Middle, Secondary, Math Education) was published 1 October 2020. English Education is the flagship journal for English Language Arts Teacher Educators (ELATE), a constituent organization of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). Published four times a year, the journal presents empirical and theoretical research, as well as reflective essays, that focus on the education and development of secondary ELA teachers. The October issue examines issues of participatory online professional development, critical race theory and critical whiteness studies, teacher candidate dispositions, digital field experiences, and lesson planning as creative work. Two articles are offered as open access: Drs. Heron-Hruby, Chisholm & Olinger's qualitative research article entitled  “Digital Field Experiences and Preservice Teachers’ Conceptions of Writing Response” and Dr. Shoffner’s editorial entitled “Where We Are is Who We Are.”

Look for the second issue in January and keep tabs on them on Twitter at @Eng_Ed_Journal.
