The Fall 2021 semester opens with the Learning Complex completed, and a new name and location for a popular student resource office. The Academic Success Center is now called the Advising and Support Center (ASC), and its suite is located on the second floor of Zane Showker Hall where it meets with Hartman Hall.

ASC Director Michelle Duncan believes the new facility will allow the ASC to provide enhanced programming for students, which in turn will promote academic success and CoB engagement.

New mobile technology allows the ASC and Madison Advising Peers (MAPs) to offer greater meeting options for students, such as outdoors, Lakeside Café and throughout the learning complex. With greater flexibility, advising sessions will become more organic, allowing advisors and MAPs to build informal relationships. Another form of outreach is the live chat available from the ‘contact us’ page on the ASC website, which was developed last year but will be maintained even as students return to campus in person. This year the ASC will continue to offer virtual advising sessions as well as in-person sessions, enabling them to reach students in a variety of situations with a variety of needs.

With a conference room, dedicated space for MAPs and private offices for academic advisers to hold one-on-one sessions, the new ASC space is designed to help students capitalize on the CoB experience.
