A group of management majors recently paid a visit to the IBM offices in Herndon, Va. to get an insider’s perspective on the process of consulting. The day included information sessions on consulting practice and proposals as well as new technology in artificial intelligence, with the highlight being a panel presentation that answered questions about the consulting process and careers.

The recent addition of a business analysis and consulting concentration to the management major has resulted in the placement of fourteen JMU management grads in consulting positions at IBM in the past two years. In fact, four of the seniors who made the trip have recently signed offer letters from IBM.

The outing was sponsored by the JMU chapter of Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE), a national honorary and professional management fraternity, whose officers worked closely with management alumni currently employed as consultants at IBM to deliver the best possible experience to the students.

SIE president Rachel Rosenberg was pleased with the results, saying, "We are proud to be able to offer unique professional development experiences such as the IBM visit to SIE members and younger management majors."
