Global Supply Chain Management Student Spotlights
International BusinessThe new Global Supply Chain minor at the College of Business is wrapping up its first full academic year. The program is designed to provide CoB and CISE majors with a broad overview of the supply chain management and logistics functions in a global context. The goal is for students to learn both hard technical skills like data driven problem solving and soft skills like business communications and teamwork in an experiential learning environment.
Here's what some of the first cohort of students have to say about the program and how it aligns with their interests:
Aileen Brokamp, senior majoring in International Business.
"I completed a global supply chain and logistics trip in Panama and Colombia, and I truly enjoy how international the supply chain industry can be because it is not your typical office job.”
Grant Drohat, senior majoring in ISAT.
“I have a passion for process optimization and waste reduction in manufacturing deriving from several internship experiences, and my supply chain courses allow me to understand inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement anywhere from cradle to grave in a product lifecycle.”
Ben DeLeo, junior majoring in Management.
“I recognize when trading in different cultures problems can arise due to cultural barriers, within countries as well as abroad. Supply chain interests me because of the ability to gain a competitive advantage in the market place through proper supplier relationship management and trade route optimization.”
Xavier Zakaria, senior majoring in Management.
“The most interesting aspect of supply chain, to me, is managing the challenges of logistics. I’ve had multiple experiences abroad including Panama, Colombia and Indonesia. These experiences exposed me to real life problems that could be addressed in the Supply chain field.”
