More than 500 second-year students gathered on a recent Saturday morning to participate in this year’s Career Kickstart, an event designed to help them get started with some basic networking and job seeking skills. Each group of about 60 students met with a faculty member, an alumni with perspective from the workplace, and an upperclassman who gave insights into the process of landing and succeeding in an internship. During the course of the half-day events, they learned about what it means to be a business professional, how to handle personal introductions and networking, and were given tips for their ‘elevator pitch,’ resumes and LinkedIn profiles.
