SUMMARY: JMU's Center for Professional Sales has achieved full member status of the University Sales Center Alliance.

JMU’s Center for Professional Sales has received acceptance as a full member of the University Sales Center Alliance (USCA). As one of only 25 universities across the country to receive this distinction, JMU continues to lead the way as the national model of the engaged university. The Center for Professional Sales was recognized by the USCA for its large and experienced faculty, as well as the quality of the students. Established in 2002, the USCA connects university faculty members with many different backgrounds and areas of expertise. Together, these credible and innovative educators advocate for the continuing advancement of the sales profession through teaching, research and outreach.

Led by Professor Richard Tate, JMU’s Center for Professional Sales engages students in experiential activities ranging from intercollegiate sales competitions and sales internships to sales shadowing events. Students learn the essentials of professional sales, follow the code of ethics of the USCA, and accelerate their post-graduation careers. Many students receive multiple job offers and high starting salaries as a result of the experience and expertise they gain through participation in the center’s hands-on activities.

“The distinction of being a Full Member of the USCA validates the years of effort of the whole marketing department and the sales professors,” says marketing professor and department head Andy Wood, the Wardinski Family Foundation Fellow. “JMU is now part of an elite group guiding the curriculum and future of the next generation of sales leaders.”
