Spring 2017 Invitational Sales Competition at University of Toledo

SUMMARY: Two student members of JMU's Professional Sales Club recently participated in the University of Toledo Invitational Sales Competition.

JMU sophomore Kelsey Druggan and freshman Marissa Piemonte had the opportunity to practice their professional sales skills recently by participating in the University of Toledo Invitational Sales Competition, Feb. 23-25. They were among 60 juniors, sophomores and freshmen who competed, representing 30 universities from across the U.S. Both were selected as members of JMU’s Professional Sales Club.

After weeks of practice, both Druggan and Piemonte competed in the 15-minute sales roleplaying event with the goal of selling 3M’s VHB adhesive tape to potential buyers. Druggan made it to the Junior Division semifinal round. She and Piemonte also attended a career fair, networking events and coaching sessions. Sponsors for the event included 3M, Gartner, Reynolds & Reynolds, and Schindler.

“This weekend was a wonderful learning experience, and I was proud to be representing JMU,” says Druggan. “I loved being able to experience what a real sales meeting would be like. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to network with professionals from the companies represented at the conference and to gain advice that I can implement for a future career in sales.”
