LinkedIn and Résumé Workshop

SUMMARY: Landing a great job starts with a making a strong first impression. That means writing a strong résumé is critical.
On Sept. 20, JMU’s chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) hosted a LinkedIn and résumé workshop, providing a chance for students to receive personalized career advice and critique of their résumés. Management professors Eric Stark, Laura Leduc, Angela Heavy, Bob Eliason and Ali Shahzad offered their expertise for the event while executive members of JMU’s SHRM chapter worked one-on-one with students to offer tips for improving LinkedIn profiles and connecting with other professionals. The activity boosted students’ preparation for networking with potential employers.
