Kevin TuckerCongratulations to College of Business alumnus, Kevin Tucker, whose company SOLitude Lake Management was named to the 2015 Best Places to Work in Virginia list created by the Virginia Business and Best Companies Group.

The list “identif[ies], recognize[s] and honor[s] the best places of employment in Virginia, [that] benefit[s] the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses.” In order to be eligible for the list, the companies must be a for-profit business, a not-for-profit business, or a government entity; it must be a publicly or privately held business in Virginia that has at least 15 employees working in Virginia and has been in business for at least one year.

SOLitude is an industry practicing lake, pond, and fisheries management, as well as providing other environmental services in the Eastern United States and has the motto of “creating a better world.” In living by this motto, SOLitude has built an outreach program called SOLution. As a part of SOLution, the company’s employees volunteer in local food banks and environmental creek cleanups, and the company donates funding to organizations like Wounded Wear and resources to families in need.

“Our entire team is dedicated to our mission of ‘creating a better world,’ and I believe it contributes to how much we all enjoy our work, our clients, and our vendor partnerships,” said Tucker.

SOLitude also makes many efforts to give back to their employees. At monthly meetings, the employees celebrate birthdays and company achievements and in December the employees are given an all-expenses paid weekend vacation.

SOLitude has certainly found the solution to “creating a better world” for their employees and the people that they help.
