(Ukrinform) Ukraine will establish a state register for territories contaminated or likely to be infested by explosive objects. This decision, made by the Cabinet of Ministers, aims to enhance humanitarian demining efforts. The register will facilitate real-time monitoring and planning of demining activities, aiding farmers and local governments in managing lands and tax benefits. It will also assist investors and restoration projects.
The State Emergency Service will manage the platform, with the Center for Humanitarian Demining handling technical aspects. Various sources, including mine action operators and local governments, will contribute data. The register will cover the entire war-affected area, with decontaminated zones being excluded. Currently, 25% of Ukraine's territory is contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance.
