State Department Funded Deminer Training Kicks off in Azerbaijan

(Trend) To promote regional peace and cooperation, the United States partnered with the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA), the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF), and the international community to launch a project training and equipping four 14-person demining teams, two of which will be funded by the U.S. State Department.

It is continuation of the U.S. support for humanitarian demining operations in Azerbaijan. Landmines and unexploded ordnance across the conflict zone continue to kill and maim civilians, block economic development, and impede the safe return of displaced communities.
