Dr. Sara Finney, a faculty member in the Assessment and Measurement PhD program, recently traveled to Auckland, New Zealand, with Assessment & Measurement PhD alumnus Dr. Sue Lottridge to present their research and scholarship at the International Test Commission (ITC) Conference. The ITC is a global organization dedicated to promoting fair, valid, transparent, and efficient testing, assessment, and reporting practices across psychological, educational, occupational, and related measurement fields.

During the conference, Finney delivered four presentations: Educational Measurement and Equity: The Evolution of Our Graduate Program; “But No One Tries on This Test!” Perceived Norms for Giving Effort on Low-Stakes Assessments and Relations with Examinee Disengagement; Introducing the CRA Graduate Course Design Guide: Preparing the Next Generation of Assessment Professionals to Center Cultural Responsiveness in Their Work; and The Diversity of Human Situations in Assessment and Testing. Lottridge presented two sessions focused on emerging issues in assessment technology: Developing International Guidelines for Generative AI in Assessment: Measurement-Critical Uses and Call for Feedback and Validity and Interpretability Considerations in Automated Scoring.

In addition to sharing their work with an international audience, Finney and Lottridge welcomed the opportunity to reconnect with current and former board members of Women in Measurement, an organization dedicated to supporting and advancing women in the measurement profession.
