Current COVID-related protocols (Jan. 17, 2022)

JMU News

Dear Faculty and Staff,

In response to updated guidance from the Office of the Governor of Virginia’s January 15, 2022 Executive Orders and Executive Directives, there are several changes to current COVID-related protocols at JMU.

Effective immediately, there is no longer a requirement for employees to receive a vaccination, report their vaccination status or undergo weekly screening testing. There are many advantages to the vaccine, and all employees are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated at an upcoming vaccination clinic.

Employees who are experiencing symptoms of COVID may get tested on campus and must follow proper quarantine and isolation guidance. There will be open testing hours in Warren Hall 502 from 9 a.m.-noon daily. You must register in advance with your JMU email to ensure there are tests available on that day. The link will be updated on Fridays with appointments for the next week.

All staff, faculty and students are required to wear a properly-fitting face mask while indoors on university owned or leased property. Employees can request a set of N-95 masks by emailing N-95maskrequest@jmu.edu from your JMU email. KN-95 masks will be distributed to buildings needing them.

All members of the university community should continue to follow CDC guidelines for quarantine and isolation, as these practices will help to stem the spread of COVID on campus.

The university will continue to update its protocols in response to changing guidance on the public health situation.
For additional details on these updates and more general information, visit the Stop the Spread website and review the FAQs. If you can’t find an answer there, questions can be directed to covid19@jmu.edu.

We appreciate your continued vigilance and adaptability as we begin the spring semester.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Alger, President
Heather Coltman, Provost
Donna Harper, VP Access and Enrollment
Nick Langridge, VP Advancement
Tim Miller, VP Student Affairs
Towana Moore, Interim VP Administration and Finance
