JMU to open at 10 a.m. due to inclement weather

News

Due to the inclement weather, James Madison University will open at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 12. With today’s delayed opening, classes will begin at 10:30 a.m. Students with questions should contact their instructor.

Faculty have several options for making up missed instructional time:

  • Hold class at the regularly scheduled time on the official university make‐up day.
  • Hold class at a time acceptable to all class members other than the regularly scheduled time or the official make‐up day. Time and location will be arranged by the academic unit.
  • Accommodate the missed instructional time within remaining class meeting time.
  • Hold class through electronic means.

For courses meeting online or in a hybrid format, faculty may decide to meet as scheduled through electronic means even if JMU administrative offices are closed and in‐person courses are canceled due to inclement weather.

Faculty will communicate with students as soon as possible about class meetings in the case of inclement weather.

The official university make-up day for classes will be Feb. 20.

Employees should contact their immediate supervisor for questions surrounding operations under these inclement weather conditions.
