Feb. 25 Update to Students in Italy

News

The following email was sent on Feb. 25 to 44 students, and a handful of JMU faculty and staff studying and working abroad in Italy.

James Madison University is aware of the spread of Coronavirus to several European countries, including Italy. Our primary concern is the safety and health of our students abroad, and we share families’ concerns for their well-being. For that reason, as of today, JMU has suspended all program excursions within Italy that would take students away from our Florence campus, and has prohibited students from travel outside of the program to affected regions in the country, following recommendations by the Italian and U.S. governments.

JMU is working with public health officials along with our staff in Italy and our other European campuses to identify the best ways to support our students. We will continue to keep our community informed through email and our website (jmu.edu/global) as the situation evolves.
