JMU Children's Playshop Opens in Forbes Center in August

"Miss Nelson Is Missing," but the James Madison University Children's Playshop isn't. The popular family theater is just delaying the opening of its 17th season while it moves to the new Forbes Center for the Performing Arts. 

In August, talented JMU student actors and faculty directors will present "Miss Nelson Is Missing," based on the "Miss Nelson" book series by Harry Allard and James Marshall. The musical adaptation by Joan Cushing tells the story of a mischievous class whose teacher is replaced mysteriously by the dreaded substitute Viola Swamp. The class searches the city to find their beloved teacher and in the process learns a lesson about treating others with respect 

Shows are scheduled Aug. 5-8 and Aug. 12-15. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday in the Studio Theatre of the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts. All tickets are $6 and they can be purchased by calling (540) 568-7836 beginning July 19
