Develop New Undergraduate and Graduate Programs Designed to Meet Commonwealth Needs

JMU is developing new undergraduate and graduate programs aligned with the Commonwealth's workforce needs, while thoughtfully sunsetting programs that no longer meet student and institutional needs. The result will be a portfolio of relevant, high-demand degrees that prepare graduates for Virginia's future.

Key Performance Indicators

  • A set of new undergraduate and graduate programs created, approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), and implemented.

FY27 Action Items

  • Review and revise as appropriate the structure of graduate education and graduate student assistantships.
  • Assess the Commonwealth's anticipated employment needs through 2040.
  • Identify high-priority new undergraduate and graduate programs that meet Commonwealth needs, and programs that can be sunset.
  • Enhance processes to prioritize new program development.
