Fri, 5 May 2023 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Come to the STS Futures Lab to meet faculty from humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering fields interested in forging collaborations that engage questions of ethics and justice.
We invite faculty interested in pedagogical collaboration to build bridges across campus between the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering fields. Coalescing around social, political and ethical questions at the intersection of science and/or technology in society, this event is intended to plant the seeds for forging new communities of practice at JMU. Specifically, building on a model developed last year as part of a project that included faculty from Foreign Languages & Literatures, ISAT, Justice Studies, and Biology, we invite you to drop in, meet other faculty interested in breaking out of disciplinary silos, and explore practices of multidisciplinary-informed asynchronous collaborative teaching.
We know it is a busy time of year! We invite you to come at 2 PM, but welcome you to join us when/as you can. We will have snacks and refreshments. Bring yourself and plan to share something you’re excited about in your teaching (or that you would be excited to teach) that connects to the theme of ‘envisioning justice.’
We anticipate building on this event at the May Symposium with a workshop that will facilitate the development of multidisciplinary communities of practice across campus.
This event is supported by the STS Futures Lab, the Center for Faculty Innovation, the National Science Foundation (#2121207), and 4-VA “STS Across the Commonwealth.”
