Center for Faculty Innovation

As April is designated National Stress Awareness Month, the CFI and its partners are pleased to host the inaugural Faculty Wellness and Wellbeing Week. The week of April 10-14, there will be several opportunities for faculty to reflect on and focus on their wellness and wellbeing.

In partnership with Colleges, JMU Libraries, and General Education, the CFI has developed several programs designed for faculty to reflect and focus on wellness and wellbeing. This exciting collaborative effort provides full-time faculty, part-time faculty, and academic unit leaders with opportunities to focus on different dimensions of wellness and wellbeing.

The events range from guest speakers and workshops to a faculty-wide event sponsored by Faculty Affairs and Curriculum to be held in the Atlantic Union Bank Center (AUBC).

Recognizing the Graduate Faculty Labor

Previous literature has indicated that the labor and skills needed to instruct, advise, and mentor graduate students can be different from teaching undergraduate students. During this Faculty Wellness and Wellbeing week, we would like to take the opportunity to recognize this labor of Graduate Faculty. A letter outlining this labor will be sent to graduate faculty on behalf of the Graduate School as evidence that can be included in the Faculty members portfolio if they wish.

CFI programs will be canceled automatically if JMU is closed for inclement weather.

We want this program to be welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all of our participants. Please describe any considerations or accommodations (e.g., dietary, disability, wellness, cultural, etc.) you want us to know about in your account profile. You may also reach out to us at cfi@jmu.edu or (540) 568-4846.
