Visiting Artist Joy Harvey on Museums and Craftsmanship
October 30, 10:00 AM (Open Coffee)
The Arts at 131 W. Grace Street
Trained in a traditional Florentine workshop, goldsmith Joy Harvey is 2025-26 Fellow of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Artisan Residency Programme, in collaboration with Swiss luxury watch maker Vacheron Constantin. At the Madison Art Collection, she will present her latest work: a deliberately distressed bronze, gold and diamond diadem that plays with and pushes against the jewellery world's search for timelessness and perfection. Over coffee and snacks, we will chat about the role of museums and museum collections in inspiring new artworks and preserving craftmanship.
In 2024, Harvey, whose brand La luce is a B-Corp, was a finalist for the LVMH prize 'Maestri d'eccellenza' and won the Boghossian Foundation's jewellery prize. She is a founding member of Truly Precious, an NGO dedicated to sharing sustainability knowledge in the jewellery business.
