Getting started with the
JMU Web Manager

The JMU Web Manager is designed to help you create and maintain your official JMU Web site without requiring you to learn HTML or to purchase and learn new software.  Sites can be built using the JMU Web Manager with only Internet Explorer (version 5 or later) and Microsoft Word.  You can also leverage the more robust HTML editing tools In FrontPage or Dreamweaver as well.

You will discover you can produce a perfectly good site without editing HTML; however, if you know a little HTML, you'll find that the JMU Web Manager will also allow you to leverage that knowledge to enhance your site.

Your First Step

Before building your site, you should spend some time thinking about the content you will include on your pages.  How many pages will you need?  How will you organize your pages? Do you have all of the images, text, etc., that you need to produce your site?

Although the JMU Web Manager is very flexible and will let you rearrange your site easily, time spent in planning and organizing your content is never wasted.
