We, the students and faculty of the Institute of Technical and Scientific Communication, uphold professionalism outlined by the Society for Technical Communication, the James Madison University Honor Code, and the following ethical principles:

Honesty

We maintain the integrity of the profession by acting honestly, legally, and responsibly. We promote accuracy in information and agreements. We credit others who contribute ideas, information, or written material that significantly influences a product or project.

Respect

We respect others' ideas, opinions, and credibility.

Privacy

We respect each other's rights to privacy and confidentiality in regards to disclosure of information and use of office space and resources.

Fairness

We promote a constructive work environment that upholds fairness and equal treatment regardless of personal preferences, opinions, interests; diversities of race, culture, ethnic background; gender and physical traits and characteristics.

Unity

We develop and maintain a positive professional relationship with other colleges, organizations, and the surrounding community. We assist other technical communicators in upholding the integrity of the profession.

This code was developed by the following students enrolled in TSC 250 and endorsed by the Institute of Technical and Scientific faculty as their official code.
