TSC students can become involved in many activities that will develop the skills they learn in class and that will give them experience to prepare them for the work place. Among such opportunities are

Society for Technical Communication

JMU's student chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) was formed in 1999. The chapter meets monthly to plan for special events and guest speakers. Students can join the chapter for a discounted rate of $55 a year.

For a TSC major, the STC offers a unique opportunity to seek recognition for their work and obtain professional contacts. The STC is comprised of over 23,000 members (probably more by now- check this) throughout the world, making it the largest organization of its kind.

This conference is the largest gathering of technical communicators. It can provide members with various networking and employment opportunities.
