We are a community committed to preparing students to be educated and enlightened citizens who lead productive and meaningful lives.

- JMU Mission Statement

Our mission is our driving force, and our commitment to it is undaunted. We are intent on providing the best possible programs and services for our students and to help them develop life-long skills which will enable them to accomplish their dreams and realize success in all areas of life. With unlimited opportunities for personal and professional growth and 300+ student organizations, JMU provides an amazing environment in which the lives of students are transformed.

The University's planning process is at the core of everything we do. Without it, our ability to provide programs and services of distinction are diminished, and our purpose becomes unsure. Our mission can only be achieved, when our goals, and the attainment of them, are aligned with our vision. I encourage you to take a look at the University's mission, vision and defining characteristics, to gain a better understanding of the institution that we are, and intend to be.

Please let us know if we can be of assistance. We appreciate your feedback and comments.

Sincerely,

Mark J. Warner (signature)
