Brian AugustineThe future of technology will be greatly influenced by discoveries in nanoscience, such as the discovery of a method for getting gold film to stick to plastics. JMU chemistry professor and Fulbright Scholar Brian Augustine led a team of undergraduate students in research that found a sure-fire, low-cost way to accomplish it. And that could be big news for a variety of industries. "One of the show-stoppers for plastic tech devices is putting electrical contacts down onto plastic surfaces," Augustine says, noting that Intel and "all the other big players out there" are trying to move to plastic electronics.
