Many students in our department study abroad at some point during their JMU careers. If you decide to conduct a study-abroad program (whether through JMU or via some other university), please check with your major advisor to clarify if and how the courses offered might count toward your JMU degree.

Over half of our department's faculty have led study-abroad programs abroad. If you'd like advice on studying abroad, reach out to a faculty member.

Remember that the application deadline for all JMU undergraduate study-abroad programs is November 1, 2018 with regard to summer 2019, fall 2019, and spring 2020 opportunities.

While this webpage focuses on undergraduate study-abroad opportunities in public affairs, our department's faculty also direct a master's program in Italy focused on European Union Policy Studies and a graduate certificate program on the management of international NGOs that includes a component in Vietnam.
